The Travel Bug
About me
I grew up in the Middle East back when it wasn’t the accessible, hyper‑connected hub it is today, and that’s where my fascination with travel began. I never turned left into business class as a child, but I desperately wanted to, and that tiny curiosity sparked a lifelong interest in airlines, cabins, and airplanes. I was about seventeen when I first became obsessed the new 777 that had just arrived on the scene.
Life then happened, as it does, and my career took me into visitor attractions and venues, where I built a life in operations. I’ve always said I’m a jack of all trades and a master of none — grafting is my game.
The Irishman and I have lived in Surrey for seventeen years, we are a family of 3 with our four legged child and we’re proud aunt and uncle to six nieces.
It’s only in recent years that I’ve had the chance to travel properly again. Travel isn’t my reset button; it’s my only real distraction from work. The idea for Cut Luce was born after years of the Irishman telling me I had zero hobbies and only worked — so, naturally, I took that as a challenge and decided to prove him wrong.
I’m fortunate to have a partner who supports my career, my curiosity, and my slightly unreasonable travel requests, whether I’m flying with friends, heading off solo, or announcing that I’m moving to the Middle East for a year for a work project. I am forever grateful for his ability to let me crack on.
My work has never been glamorous, it’s been amazingly chaotic — and every now and then, I like to balance the graft and chaos with travel and where I can, a little luxury.
Travel has always been the thread running through my life, and Cut Luce is where I finally give that thread a home.
